Lubena joined the Academic Unit for Ageing and Stroke Research in March 2016. Prior to this she worked as a Research Governance Co-ordinator and Clinical Studies Officer at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Lubena completed an MSc in Diversity in Management in 2012. She is interested in PPI and promoting health research and other health initiatives amongst ethnic minority communities. She has recently been involved in a project looking at how Mental Health services can reduce the number of BAME people accessing Mental Health Services at crisis and at reducing the stigma of mental health.
Lubena is currently working on a Randomised Controlled Trial using the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) in a Hospital at Home (HAH) setting sponsored by the University of Oxford. The study aims to explore whether CGA in a HAH setting (a care model that is being rolled out across the NHS), results in improved patient outcomes and cost-effective care. The study is also looking to see if implementing CGA in an older person’s home, instead of in an acute hospital setting, will lead to a greater improvement in health outcomes at a lower cost
