“To improve health status for older people and stroke survivors through high quality collaborative research which will have positive impact on local, national and international services.”

The Academic Unit for Ageing and Stroke Research (ASR) is a leading research centre with an established record of addressing key, clinically relevant questions in elderly care and stroke. A programme of multidisciplinary health services research has been developed, facilitated by a strong and supportive network of local and national colleague researchers, NHS clinical staff, patients and their families and friends. Our research uses mixed-methods, incorporating qualitative, quantitative and health economic evaluations.

The ASR is physically based in the Bradford Institute for Health Research on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site, and is also part of Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, University of Leeds.
