Magda received her BA in Psychological Sciences and an Integrated Masters’ in Clinical Psychogerontology at the Faculty for Psychology and Education Sciences in the University of Coimbra, Portugal. In 2020, she completed a PhD in Neuropsychology, in which she focused on how spontaneous memories and future thoughts change with ageing. Previously, she did research on how to use physical action to improve memory in older people, collaborated with Third Age universities and worked as a clinical psychologist in primary care.
From 2019 to 2021, Magda worked in the Bradford Institute for Health Research and then in 2022 in the University of Leeds, supporting research focused on ageing. This included a systematic review with network meta-analysis on complex interventions to promote independence in older people, and a scoping review and qualitative work on how to support staff in care homes to provide better oral care to residents. Magda returned to the Bradford Institute for Health Research in 2023 to work on a project focused on dementia prevention and health inequalities
Magda is interested in cognitive ageing in healthy and pathological populations, and in applied research that aims to promote successful ageing and/or improve care in pathological ageing and neuropsychological impairment.
