Consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist
Dr Paul Southern was appointed to Bradford Teaching Hospitals in 2012, he carried out his undergraduate training at the University of Leeds, and also completed postgraduate training within the Yorkshire Deanery. Dr Southern spent seven years working in the Leeds transplant unit and its associated intensive care unit, pursuing research in molecular pathology and acute liver failure, gaining a MD in the genetics of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Dr Southern was appointed to a consultant post in Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2008 and is clinical lead for alcohol and IT in the Foundation Trust. With his colleague Dr Moreea he manages over 1000 viral hepatitis patients and works closely with the local mental health trust in the management of patients with alcohol dependence.
