Dr Sulleman Moreea was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist in 2004. He qualified from Leeds University, UK with several distinctions as well as the William Hey Medal and did his Specialist Registrar rotation in the Yorkshire region. He has consolidated the haemochromatosis service and has started the only dedicated day case paracentesis service in the region. Starting from humble beginnings with his juniors, Dr Moreea has built a strong Hepatology research unit that now attracts studies from major companies. He has forged special links with the research unit run by Professor Graham Foster from the Royal London Hospital.
Dr Moreea’s interest, apart from viral hepatitis, is in the formation of endoscopists in developing countries – he has helped set up endoscopy units in Mauritius and St Lucia. He holds membership in a number of professional societies and has presented his work at the British Society of Gastroenterology, The American Gastroenterology Association and the European Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
